inding a great gift for children can sometimes be a struggle. In our opinion the younger they are, the easier it is — their friends haven't influenced them yet. To them, sometimes the box the gift comes in is just as exciting as the present!
Imaginative, early childhood games are crucial building blocks for future development and even play a part in your child's success as an adult. They build self-confidence and inspire creativity.
This is an exciting time for these ages as they are exploring the world and curious about how things work. Puzzles and shapes to learn how to fit various pieces together, interactive rhyming books, all kinds of pull toys (especially if they make a noise and look like animals), and baby dolls are just some popular items. Look for toys with bright colors that are fun, encourage coordination and get them moving.
This is an age that children will start to develop greater independence, self-control, and become more creative. They will also have more coordination and will be able to jump high, run, and climb. Ballet, gymnastics or karate can be started now, as long as the child is able to follow directions and get along with others. Introduce some toys that can stimulate imagination. Role-playing, dress-up, pretend play, and even certain board games are all wonderful ways to do just that.
This age group will learn how to tell time, read on their own, start telling jokes, and ask an endless number of questions. Older kids will probably be asking for tech toys (which can be expensive). Computers will fascinate them, so screen-free fun with science gadgets, doing puzzles, reading mystery books, and playing thinking games are recommended as an alternative. There can be a tendency for self-criticism and low self-esteem, so be sure to praise and encourage often.
